As a child, i was introduced to American Cartoons while at the same time, i was one of the very few who was introduced to Japanese Anime'. Anime' in Japanese not subbed or Voiceovers. Later, Japan and America did a Superhero Team-Up and a few Japanese based anime made it to America and more and more Kids my age caught on.
For me, i was really into action - packed Hardcore animation or what was to be considered edged-based action at that time. We had Thundercats, SilverHawks, Voltron and The defenders of the Universe and so much more. As time went on, we met Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Violence Jack, Dragonball and Dragonball Z and a slew of other major anime'.
During that time, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny and other simple-minded cartoons, took a back seat to the ferocity of Japanese Anime' and their reign has been supreme ever since.
So for me as an adult you can see by my eye and vision Japanese Anime', played and had more of an effect on me than slow-paced cartoons.
