As a child, i was introduced to American Cartoons while at the same time, i was one of the very few who was introduced to Japanese Anime'. Anime' in Japanese not subbed or Voiceovers. Later, Japan and America did a Superhero Team-Up and a few Japanese based anime made it to America and more and more Kids my age caught on. For me, i was really into action - packed Hardcore animation or what was to be considered edged-based action at that time. We had Thundercats, SilverHawks, Voltron and The defenders of the Universe and so much more. As time went on, we met Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Violence Jack, Dragonball and Dragonball Z and a slew of other major anime'. During that time, The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny and other simple-minded cartoons, took a back seat to the ferocity of Japanese Anime' and their reign has been supreme ever since. So for me as an adult you can see by my eye and vision Japanese Anime', played and had more of an effect on me than slow-paced cartoons. Whatever happened to Saturday Morning Cartoons besides the rise of Netflix, Redbox and Cable with 2 million channels..lolol I miss those glorious days of rise & shine and scurrying downstairs to cut on the Tv with cereal in hand and jammies on. Saturday morning cartoons was the epitome of our childhood and was the stepping stone of what the era and world became today as far as the love for Saturday morning cartoons without them being on Saturday. Now the problem with that is now we have so many stations with ample enough material as far as animation and cartoons go but the feeling isn't the same since they have already established what plays when.. EXAMPLE: Cartoons have that Saturday morning feel. Other action packed Cartoons have that after school feel. So in today's market of Hulu, Netflix and other sites in which you can get your Saturday morning cartoons on demand, makes that feeling of love and joy for the OG of Saturday Morning Cartoons a distant memory. Remember we are the Saturday Morning Cartoon Generation and we need to bring back that magic which is missing and maybe it just might bring back some love in the world. There is nothing more exciting than wishing and wanting and seeing your dream of your hero come to life on the big screen. Now to achieve that dream, one must feel it, live it, believe it then achieve it. As i have watched so many Superhero movies hit the big screen, i can only wonder when will it be my time? How can i make it my time? Which direction can i and should i take? Will this be laughed at or welcomed? How do i start such a venture? There are so many unanswered questions to something i already know. So here is how i figured the math. 1+1=2. Create the hero. bring it to life-Cosplay. make the movie poster. Marketing is King. Sounds simple huh? Well i did all of the above to help me get to the final step. Film a movie which will be the defining moment in the life of an Indy Creator. We all love our favorite Heroes and we also love to dress up on Halloween as well. But in the infamous Kingdom of Nerds and Fans, nothing is more exhilarating than becoming your favorite hero and live out that fantasy. For me being an indy Comic hero creator, nothing is more exciting than Cosplaying your own Hero. Not many have actually accomplished this feat but i am proud to be among the few who have. It is very important as a Cosplay character and indy Creator to become one with your Hero. This will lead to a greater understanding as you send him or her out into the world among the many greats who have already achieved legendary status. To attend a Comic Con as your Character and to have Fans of Marvel & DC marvel at your creation is a WIN. To have Fans in touch with your Hero, puts them in touch with you which makes your character more relatable to them. So don't be afraid to Cosplay your own Character. I was asked about Bayne's selection in wardrobe and why did i choose white of all colors to battle Werewolves and Vampires in. Well, let's think back to Batman, X-men, Blade, The Punisher, Birds of Prey and many other Hero movies which portrayed all Heroes in all black or the so called Rebel gear to bring that sense of edge to an all american type Hero. When i designed Bayne, i decided at that moment. he would be different as far as his clothes were concerned. He was already a super-powered being who could do incredible feats of amazement, speed being one of them. So when people asked about how come he didn't get his clothes bloody when going to war, i would calmly and kindly say, "Japanese Samurai of old. Now these were highly skilled practitioners of the way of the sword. The Samurai could slice 15 men with clean and precise cuts and place their blade back into their sheath and walk away before the blood spewing begins. I would laugh because the long pause of enlightenment was amazing. They would say "Wow, you are onto something. So for me, good guys can wear black but they don't always have to wear black. Good guys always wear white, bloody or not at least in Bayne's world. To often do we depend on Marvel, DC, Image, Valiant, Dark-horse and many other giants to build and support us instead of us depending on our own business savvy and creative sense. I personally think the basic steps are easy. 1. Create and bring to life the idea 2. Collaborate with a writer, artist or be that writer and artist. 3 Trademark and Copyright that tangible idea. 4. LLC or Corporate your Company. 5. Marketing is King. 6. Social Networking is King. 7. Hit the Cons 8. Sell out of your trunk 9. create digital copies for instant sales while waiting on your hardcopies to arrive 10. make sure steps 1-9 are complete You are Marvel, DC, Valiant, Dark Horse and Image the only difference you are you. Stay focused on the oal and the dream. Create your own and dictate on your own terms and learn from the error of your ways and the success of your ways.. Why don't you sell Bayne to Marvel? Great question. My answer/question would always be why should i, what would i gain?
See the problem when i was always faced with this question wasn't selling Bayne to Marvel but the price tag everyone settled for when they said if it was them they would take the 150 to 500 thousand then go create another character because they are creative enough to do it. Hmmm so you would sell your blood, sweat and tears for that much while Marvel would go on to make well over 200 million while you sit around bought out of your own creation???? hmmmmmm. Why sell and why settle? Don't! Create your arsenal, build your empire then let the powerhouses come to you. Afterwards, you dictate the stipulations and control the points and creativity. So why does Bayne look like so many people yet was created from none of them. When you first see Bayne, you go "WOW HE LOOKS COOL or Epic. Suddenly you pause and you think " hmmmm he kind reminds me of.....
1. Blade 2. God of War 3.Morpheus 4. The Green Lantern- John Stewart with a dash of The Matrix. And the list goes on. Well the cool part is, Bayne isn't from any of them. Bayne is actually me. That's right, Bayne is actually molded after myself. The White outfit and Axes come from old school Kung fu Films. I grew up on 70's Kung fu films where the Heroes wore white and fought with giant battle axes. My favorite Hero who fought with axes but never wore white was Black Whirlwind from the film Mountain Heroes. He carried 2 battle axes and wore all black. Then you had long axe and short axe 2 great Chinese heroes. Well as you can see Bayne did not derive from any of what or where people think or thought he came from. Bayne is a stand-alone and will always be. |
